Airport News

Welcome to the autumn issue of Capital magazine

We hope you have had an opportunity to read the spring issue of Capital magazine – and read about the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, a celebration of Scotland’s amazing and iconic assets.

Our feature on pages 6-9 showcases just some of the many incredible buildings and structures, some dating back more than 5,000 years! Check out our guide to what’s on throughout the year and follow in the footsteps of our fascinating ancestors.

The new season also heralds the launch of a packed programme of cultural events, ranging from puppet shows to the International Science Festival. Our What’s On feature on pages 42-45 gives you a taste of just some of the great events on offer.

The airport itself has been in the headlines recently for a number of reasons – including it’s starring role in one of the year’s biggest movies, Trainspotting T2.

Check out our article on pages 10-13 where we take a tour of some of the other world-famous Edinburgh locations that feature on the big screen.

There’s been a real buzz about the airport in recent month as it was revealed that, once again, it smashed the record for the number of passengers at any Scottish airport, with more than 12 million people flying through Edinburgh in 2016. The airport is so much more than just a travel hub – it’s now one of the city’s major shopping destinations following a significant investment in the retail area, bringing some of the top fashion names to the airport and creating 100 new retail jobs.

There’s exciting news too for Capital with the launch of the magazine’s sister website in April. It’s a fantastic guide to shopping, what’s on across the city and beyond, attractions, the best places to eat and so much more! It’s also a great new platform for advertisers to reach Edinburgh’s 12 million passengers.

Happy reading!
