Wedgwood the Restaurant is the vision of owners Paul and Lisa Wedgwood’s perfect night out. If you want to be in the heart of the Hogmanay festivities this is the restaurant for you – located on the Royal Mile, Wedgwood the Restaurant is one of Ian Rankin’s favourite haunts. This is modern Scottish cooking at its best all served up in a calm and elegantly decorated dining room – perfect for a special occasion.
Paul Wedgwood sources the finest produce that Scotland has to offer. A luxurious and classic menu awaits guests, with ingredients Paul has foraged himself along with sustainably sourced fish and organic meat. The Stockbridge Restaurant
If you’re looking to woo your partner, book The Stockbridge Restaurant immediately! This chic, candlelit basement restaurant in the city’s New Town was named by The Times as one of the “sexiest in the UK” in February 2018 – so it really is the perfect place for a romantic Hogmanay dinner a deux (but expect proposals – the restaurant has been the setting of many of these!)
Head Chef Jason, his partner Jane and their team provide guests with ‘fresh and creative cooking, hand-picked wines and a warm-hearted ambience.’ This cosy, family-run restaurant is situated in the heart of historic Stockbridge where it’s not so much fine-dining as a relaxed, unpretentious experience.

The Little Chartroom
This is the first restaurant from Roberta Hall-McCarron (former head chef at Castle Terrace, previously at The Kitchin) and husband Shaun McCarron. Roberta won the coveted Young British Foodies Chef award in 2018 and the restaurant has been receiving rave reviews since they opened last year. A neighbourhood bistro located on Albert Place, at the top of Edinburgh’s Leith Walk, Roberta runs the kitchen with Shaun out front. Serving French British style cuisine, The Little Chartroom’s food is simple and seasonal with the level of work and attention to detail that comes as standard from a classically trained chef, elevating it above your standard bistro fare.
A very special, surprise six-course tasting menu is on the table at The Little Chartroom this Hogmanay. Dishes may include the likes of Roberta’s winter favourites. Bookings will be taken for New Year’s Eve from 5.30pm to 9.15pm.

The Bridge Inn, Ratho
Want to escape the city madness? The Bridge Inn is situated on the banks of the Union Canal in Ratho, just seven miles west of Edinburgh, it’s is a community pub with rooms at the heart of the village. Head Chef Ross Traill prides himself in producing delicious, locally-sourced food using vegetables grown in the pub’s own walled garden by in-house gardener David, as well as home-bred pork, which is perfect for the delicious pork crackling. The Pub at Bridge Inn at Ratho has garnered lots of awards for its excellent food and drink offer and inviting ambience. Mostly recently it was named Gastropub of the Year at the Edinburgh Restaurant Awards 2019 and featured in the AA Pub Guide 2020.
Start the evening with a welcome cocktail, then tuck into a seven course tasting menu showcasing the local larder. Stand out dishes include fillet, short rib, veal sirloin with carrot and ginger and a rich chocolate brownie with panna cotta and sea buckthorn sorbet. After dinner, dance the night away and when the clock strikes midnight, get ready to toast with a glass of fizz to the sound of a pipers bagpipes.
